Shehu Sani, a former negotiator between Boko Haram and the Federal Government is advising the Nigerian authorities to negotiate with the radical Islamic sect in order to set the kidnapped schoolgirls free or use force against them.
Sani who was speaking on the CNN program ‘Connect the World’ with Becky Anderson however added that the use of force may put the kidnapped girls in great risk, hence the need to negotiate with the group.
“There are two ways to which you can get these girls free. The first is to use force, and the second is through dialogue.
“The use of force is not an option for now in the sense that nobody knows where these girls were kept and even if you know, these girls have been embedded in with the insurgents who are heavily armed.
“And any attempt to rescue them will be putting their lives in further danger,” he said.
The FG is yet to make its intentions clear on how to engage the Islamic militants but assures that efforts are underway to secure the kidnapped girls’ release.
