Iykeresa from #UltimateLoveNG is still going strong two months in

The Coronavirus pandemic did many things to the fans of Ultimate Love NG, the now beloved dating show from Multichoice. For one the season finale for the show was moved forward by one week, fans of the couples from the show were unable to adequately show their appreciation for their favourite couples through a well attended finale (social distancing was already in effect by the time the show ended so the finale was scaled down). But that hasn’t really stopped the show’s favourite couples from connecting with their fanbases or diminished the show’s popularity post competition. There’s no better example of this than the fanfare that is happening right now on Twitter to commemorate the second month anniversary of Iykeresa.

One of the few relationships from the competition where the woman in the relationship was significantly older than the man, Iykeresa’s relationship quickly drew fans who enjoyed that unconventional dynamics around their relationship and how easily they managed to overcome personal differences. Iykeresa persevered until the very end of the show, with a last minute eviction that saw them leave the house for the season’s eventual winners, the couple simulated traditional rites and are living together as legally recognised union. The fans are still as invested in the relationship if the tweets that have gone out to celebrate their union are anything to go by.
