[The Legislative Blog]: “It’s fake news” | Saraki denies alleged attempt to “create fuel scarcity against Osinbajo”

It’s sad to admit but we are in the era of fake news.

So, yesterday when online news medium, Sahara Reporters published a flash news accusing Senate President Bukola Saraki and a cabal of an attempt to sabotage the government, we almost laughed it away.

Sahara Reporters said the Senate President and co had met with oil marketers and the next move was to “create a massive fuel scarcity against Acting President Yemi Osinbajo”. Frankly, this piece of information had premise.

The Acting President was away attending the AU Summit in Ethiopia and members of the senate were plotting to snatch the government in his absence , or so it seemed. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe raised an order, “the acting president is the person who is at the head of government now, but we have a serious problem in Nigeria today. We have nobody in Nigeria who is at the head of the government…”

The senators had managed to cause tension and Sahara Reporters’ claim could have very well played into the narrative to create a perfect takeover story.

But before we get tensed up any further, the Senate President’s office has debunked the claims and have assured that Saraki would not cause any harm to Nigeria and Nigerians.

  1. It might be fake, but there would be an iota of truth in he story. We all know the antecedent of our dear saraki. Starting from Akingbola Erastus, to GEJ after collecting billions from him in 2011, he still back stabbed Jonathan.
He is still capable of wrecking this govt. But with Osinbajo, it’s fight between Saraki and God.
