[The Legislative Blog]: Watch Ben Murray-Bruce lash out at fellow senators for harbouring drug addicts

It must have been such a bitter pill to swallow for all the senators who were present at plenary on Tuesday but Senator Ben Murray-Bruce went in hard as he made his submission on the issue of drug abuse on the House floor.

So a motion “The Need to Check the Rising Menace of Pharmaceutical Drug Abuse among Youths Especially in Northern Nigeria” was adopted by APC senator representing Borno Central, Baba Kaka Bashir. The Senator said one of the major challenges faced by Northern youth was the abuse of controlled drugs.

Over 30 other lawmakers sponsored the motion, some of who added that codeine syrups should no longer be made available over the counter.

In his turn, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce focused on the abuse of hard drugs and relayed his encounter with Indian hemp smokers in the Afrikan Shrine; a spot he clarified he visited “to enjoy Afrobeat”.

The high point of his speech was when he pointedly told the other senators to search within their households as he was certain they were accommodating drug addicts. WATCH:

Now that’s one mighty dose of common sense!
