You’ve probably heard by now. Iyanya is now a Mavin. You’ve probably already heard his explanation for joining as well. It makes sense, really. He wants to focus on his music and leave the business to someone else. Why distract yourself with the numbers when you can channel that energy into your creativity. It’s the same sentiment Don Jazzy himself echoed on Twitter.
Let’s learn dat not all artist must own a label. 1 will suffer. D business or d music. Iyanya made a great decision and earns my respect. 🙌🏿

But there’s still one question. To be honest, there are several. Powerhouse pairings like this in the Nigerian entertainment industry aren’t exactly the norm in a landscape where most are focused on going it alone, so we’d love to know more about how it all came together. But. Above all. Right now. We need to know.
What is happening with MMMG? Iyanya, as far as we know, started Made Men Music Group with Ubi Franklin. And while he did mention months ago that he was parting ways with MMMG, he’s been largely silent about that since. Till now. What does signing with another record label mean for that situation? Was he bought out somehow?
We continue to observe.
