Nelson Mandela again admitted to hospital

by Isi Esene

Global symbol of freedom, Nelson Mandela, is back in the hospital on admission for undisclosed reasons.

South African government officials today said there is no cause for alarm explaining that the former president had only gone for routine tests.

According to a statement released by the office of the president, Jacob Zuma, the 94-year-old Mandela was doing well and there was “no cause for alarm”.

In January last year, Madiba, as he is fondly called, was treated for a serious chest infection, and a year later underwent a diagnostic procedure for an abdominal problem.

He served as South Africa’s first black president between 1994 and 1999, and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

We wish him quick recovery.
