Police interrogate Bishop ‘for sponsoring Niger Delta Avengers’

The Delta State Police Command has interrogated the presiding bishop of the New Salvation Zion Church of Christ at Igbodu area in Warri over allegation of sponsoring the militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers.

The Punch reports that the bishop (name withheld), hails from Ogbinbiri community of Egbema Kingdom in the Warri North Council Area of the state.

The bishop was invited by police detectives for questioning following two petitions alleging that he was funding the militant group.

He was interrogated at the Warri Area Command of the Delta State Police Command.

Reports say that the clergyman was interrogated for 12 hours last week Wednesday and was ordered to report the following day for further questioning.

The petitions against the bishop alleged that he was harbouring weapons both in his house and church.

The clergyman’s residence and church building was searched by the IPO in charge of the case and his team but nothing incriminating was found at both places.
