Huge traffic from unemployed Nigerians crashes Police websites

Following the announcement of enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force, hordes of unemployed Nigerians and other potential candidates surged onto the two online police portals for the registration.

The huge amount of traffic witnessed by www.psc.gov.ng and www.npf.gov.ng, forced the portals to crash and according to Punch Newspapers, they both remained inaccessible for most part of Friday, April 1.

Many candidates were disappointed as they could not apply online in spite of the assurance that they would be able to.

Most of them got this error message from the website- “This Account has been suspended. Contact your hosting provider for more information.”

In spite of the fact that the ww.npf.gov.ng platform was down for over 10 hours, police sources were quoted to have said about 8,000 candidates had registered as of 2pm.

“Candidates started registering online from 4am on Friday when the portals opened for registration; as of 2pm, over 8,000 candidates had registered online. The traffic was huge and this explains why many applicants could not access the websites because the servers were down.”

Meanwhile, the Head of Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, said the commission’s technical team was working on the servers to address the hitches.

“I have notified our technical team and they are working on the servers, all the hiccups would be addressed and candidates would find it easier to file their applications. I believe the issues we are experiencing were caused by the traffic from the huge number of applicants.”
