Chinedu Nwangwu, a 9-year-old boy in Echara Community in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has been electrocuted by a high-tension wire on Saturday while he was trying to pluck fruits from a cashew tree within his school premises.

Sources say the young boy, who is a pupil of Echara Community Primary School, climbed the cashew tree not knowing that one of the tree branches was resting on an high-tension wire.

The boy’s mother, Mrs. Nwangwu, however, blamed the incident on the activities of spiritual forces saying another son of hers recently died in a similar circumstance.

“I should blame my God for allowing me to live in the land of the living without my son. It is not up to three years I lost one of my boys to motor accident and today again, it is another calamity. Wouldn’t it be better if I cease to live as life is becoming useless without my children,” she said.

One of the teachers in the school, who does not want to be named, blamed the incident on the boy’s parents who did not give him proper home training.

“If the boy was well tutored by his parents he wouldn’t have climbed the cashew tree in the first place,” she reportedly said.

According to her, the school authority had earlier directed the pupils not to climb trees or pluck fruits in the school without the consent of the school authority.

He has since being buried.
