Following the shocking news of Sunday Oliseh‘s resignation from the national team, former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has been reinstated to his former role.
The NFF made this announcement via its website following the outcome of a meeting between the members of the Technical and Development Committee on Friday.
According to Chris Green, Chairman of the Technical Committee, the coaching crew will work under the office of the NFF Technical Director Shaibu Amodu ahead of the crucial qualification duel against the Pharaohs.
“We have decided as a matter of urgency to get a consortium of coaches to oversee the team in the mean time,” Green told media upon concluding a three-hour long meeting today in Abuja.
“We have two very important matches coming up in [one in] Kaduna and the other in Cario which seem late in the time. [Oliseh’s resignation] came as a rude shock.
“We were not guarded when this event happened. We need to do what we ought to get the best of the very bad situation,” he concluded.
Siasia will return to take charge of the Super Eagles as well as leading the Dream Team VI to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later in the year.
Siasia was briefly in charge of the Super Eagles but was sacked barely 10 months into the job after the team failed to qualify for 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
