Good evening.

President Muhammadu Buhari met with leaders of the south-east region at the Aso Villa today.

President Buhari also promised to attend the grand finale of the gubernatorial campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra. Here’s what the party flagbearer Tony Nwoye had to say after meeting with the president earlier today.

Meanwhile, the Vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is still busy trying to clarify the misunderstanding surrounding his approval of loans for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) while he acted as President in Buhari’s stead.

Osinbajo said he only approved loans for the NNPC joint venture financing with the IOCs.

Don’t forget, this chain controversy started with the online leak of an accusatory petition addressed to the President by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu.

Amidst the whole firefighting, VP Osinbajo still found time to reassure the people of Niger Delta that they will benefit maximally from the wealth and natural resources of their land.

“Every part of Nigeria matters to us,” he said while inaugurating the construction of the strategic 40-kilometre Bonny-Bodo-Ogoni Road in Bonny Island.

But not everyone believes that they truly matter to the government, particularly, members of the now-proscribed separatist group led by Nnamdi Kanu’s Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Today, IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful said the group had no plans to change its name.

Why? It turns out there’s an alleged plot by the government and some state governors t”o float another pro-Biafra group,” creating an impression that IPOB is no more.

Here’s everything we know about this allegation.
