#TheVoiceNigeria: Watch the winning performances from tonight’s episode

It was the fifth episode of the blind auditions tonight and another crop of hopefuls were on hand to sing their way into the competition. The judges remain the same, the drama is still on check, the viewers at home? We’re not completely sure of their loyalty. The auditions have gone on for five weeks and we’re genuinely bored with seeing Yemi Alade in her red Samurai outfit.

But because here’s not the place to rant, we’ll simply give you a rundown of all the contestants that made it to the next round from tonight’s battle:

The show opened with Ebube’s rendition of Alex Clare’s Too Close and he got two decided turns from Timi Dakolo and Patoranking and a last minute turn from Yemi Alade. Ebube went with #TeamPatoranking

Chukwuemeka Chike-Ezekpeazu single-handedly took on Maroon 5’s chart-bursting jam, Sugar and got Yemi Alade swirling for him but he ended up on Patoranking’s team.

This one struggled through her performance and got only Timi Dakolo to turn for her seconds before her last note. Grace Udoh performed a Mary J.Blige classic so we get how hard it must have been.

Now, a rock song may be the hardest to perform on stage especially when you’re a newbie like Efezino. Her voice was what got her through to Waje and Yemi Alade’s hearts and she camped with the former.

When you come to perform Yemi Alade’s song on stage, then you have a solid plan. Favour Johnson performed Kissing and her found herself on Yemi’s team. It couldn’t have turned out anyhow else.

Chuks Aniebonam didn’t come to play. His brilliant rendition of Backstreet Boyz’s Shape of My Heart got Timi to hit the buzzer without delay and all the other judges followed suit. With four turns, 34-year-old Chuks ended with #TeamWaje

Just like Favour Johnson, Emuejevoke Efiokpene came with a plan: to get on Timi’s team by charming him with his own song. He performed The Vow but sadly, Timi was not near impressed. Thank God for Patoranking who saved the day (or night, as you please).

Performing a Cobhams’s track and doing it well is no ordinary feat but Yimika Akinola killed his rendition of Ordinary People and earned himself a spot on Yemi Alade’s team.
