Radical Islam has launched a frenzy of terrorist attacks around the globe. London, for instance has been the scene of multiple terror attacks, sometimes happening simultaneously. These attacks are carried out by Islamic fundamentalists, some of the time under the instruction of the large network called ISIS.
Ever wondered how ISIS recruits suicide bombers in places where they are not situated? BILD reporter Björn Stritzel has done the leg work and tells all below:
1. How does ISIS instruct Jihadis abroad? I pretended to be a potential terrorist to chat with ISIS instructors. https://t.co/oHCvqeDXli
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
2. To find the instructors of ISIS external operations division, I asked a simple question: "How can I send a video to Amaq?" pic.twitter.com/2K5s0dtwZn
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
3. Asked some admins of the big pro-ISIS channels (Nashir, KN etc) who disseminate ISIS stuff on TG and they were all very kind and helpful.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
4. They all knew immediately what this question implied as a short martyrdom vid was a common modus operandi for instructed terror attacks.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
5. They directed me to two instructors who were polite and suggested to communicate via Wickr messenger rather than Telegram. pic.twitter.com/78XSfqMykR
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
6. The instructor cared for my Opsec and adviced me to strike quickly. pic.twitter.com/7IPvoCFGKe
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
7. ISIS has a standardized text which they use initially to claim an attack, sometimes followed by a martyrdom vid. pic.twitter.com/tJqMAlJcs5
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
8. This procedure was followed after the attacks of Riaz Ahmadzai in Würzburg 18/07/16 and Mohammed Daleel 24/07/16 in Ansbach. pic.twitter.com/f4tIk2GYku
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
9. The instructor (who might also be an Amaq media operative) warned me about arrests, indicating that they follow the news closely. pic.twitter.com/9d2VwG4iN2
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
10. There’ll be more articles about chats with (German) ISIS instructors in the next days. Spoiler: I didn’t commit a terror attack.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
11. Some guys in Amniyat’s ExOps division won’t be too happy about the upcoming articles. pic.twitter.com/2hNA17B21g
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
12. As some people pretended to be concerned: Relevant authorities knew about this of course.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 24, 2017
13. The ISIS instructor didn't care too much about the kind of attack, but more about the martyrdom video for Amaq. https://t.co/15iwXjuRBo
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
14. He gave some instructions for the video, so that it's in line with the ISIS message from their other propaganda outlets. pic.twitter.com/57hDkBua3l
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
15. I told him that the final video message will be in German (as I was interested to see if he works with Germans). pic.twitter.com/lg38qLs9kY
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
16. As this was my first terrorist job, I asked the ISIS instructor for some help with the text for the martyrdom video. pic.twitter.com/ooYWrOw03N
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
17. To see if the two German brothers are worth their money I included some mistakes in the draft version. pic.twitter.com/bAtlizHL0d
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
18. I also gave them a small puzzle by naming some dead Jihadis like al-Adnani and OBL followed by rahimahullah / may Allah accept.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
19. In the list of the dead Jihadi martyrs who inspired me I also included Abu Talha al-Almani, kunya of German Denis Cuspert aka Deso Dogg. pic.twitter.com/rJQv39l8k3
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
20. Cuspert, who's arguably the most notorious German ISIS Jihadi, was announced dead many times, but is most likely still alive. pic.twitter.com/hABrDcD6LK
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
21. ISIS never explicitly denied rumours of his death. However, they wouldn't appreciate one of their "knights" announcing him dead.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
22. I was curious how they would solve this by either deleting his name or maybe just the "rahimahullah" phrase so he's not officially dead.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
23. After the German brothers sent back the draft text, I saw they found a more elegant way by putting "Bekkay Harrach" behind Abu Talha. pic.twitter.com/jRLUVsucoa
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
24. Bekkay Harrach was a German Jihadi from Bonn who joined AQC in Waziristan in 2007. His adopted the kunya Abu Talha al-Almani. pic.twitter.com/vtjM7ag2St
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
25. In videos released by AQ's As-Sahaba media wing he threatened attacks in Germany, but in a very weird and almost comical style. pic.twitter.com/KOGkiMO9gr
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
26. In 2010 he was killed by a US airstrike and was praised by German Jihadis despite his weird videos. Cuspert chose his kunya after him.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
27. AQ also continues to praise Bekkay Harrach. In a vid released by As-Sahab a few days ago he appears together with senior Jihadi leaders. pic.twitter.com/xdS9aDg63Q
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
28. After the German corrected my draft he talked with me using the same Wickr acc, saying that a video is not necessary if it's too risky. pic.twitter.com/JrWKgglOEv
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
29. Contrary to the first instructor, the German brother regarded the attack itself much more important than the video.
— Björn Stritzel (@bjoernstritzel) July 25, 2017
30. Next part of the series can be found here: https://t.co/YhThiq4kTo
