Thug life: Fayose ‘orders’ judge beaten up for “being rude to him”

by Godwin Akanfe

The Ekiti governorship election tribunal which was scheduled to hold today at the High Court in Ado-Ekiti has been abandoned following an invasion, allegedly led by the governor-elect of the state, Ayodele Fayose, which culminated in Mr. Fayose allegedly ordering thugs who accompanied him to beat up a judge, Justice John Adeyeye. Justice Adeyeye was allegedly “rude” to Mr. Fayose.

In the ensuing confusion, workers in the court premises abandoned their workplace and scampered for safety. A witness said that the Fayose thugs had assembled at the court premises as early as 6 am, despite the presence of policemen from the police headquarters who were deployed to major streets and around the court.

Justice Adeyeye, who presides over High Court 3, was unhappy at the large number of people who thronged the premises of the court, and asked Mr. Fayose to move his supporters to a “safe distance from the court premises”. Enraged by this request, Fayose shouted at the judge, slapped him and ordered his men to beat him up. The thugs complied immediately, and in the process of following the order, tore the Judge’s clothes. They were subsequently dispersed by the police who used tear gas.

Justice Adeyeye is presently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti.

  1. The Ekiti state governor-elect,Ayo Fayose has confirmed the fears of most discerning minds that his incoming administration
shall be characterized by impunity, thuggery ,anarchy and uncivilized conducts as exemplified by his barbaric actions at the Ekiti
high court.I wish all the parochial and myopic Ekiti electorates who voted for such a felon four years of motor park cum agbero
    Style leadership.

  2. Ki lao tiseyi si o… Ekiti kite.

  3. why the term ‘thugs’? Instead of supporters. The judge had a hidden agenda, otherwise, he won’t have called for the movement of Mr Fayose’s supporters to a safe haven,

  4. see how we voted thugs into power.

  5. Haahaha. over power dey worry am.

  12. This is very unfortunate, this is one of the problems we have in Nigeria today, we elect iresponsible people with questionable characters, A leader should lead by axample so what kind of example is this area boy who is going to mount the seat of power of a state going to show. Definately he is going to introuce lawlessness, injustice, coruption, thugery and all kind of sucial vices in the state, is it not a shame and embarassement to the people of Ekiti state to have ironically elected this tout as a governor, is a shame and very unfortunate, this is a slap to Nigeria judeciary and NBA, are they going to take this? If this lawless gov.elect gets away with this, then is better nigerians forget about democracy because a time shall come governors like this will be killing people on the street.

    1. This shows how blind people of ekiti are this year. They voted with sentiments. Its quite unfortunate that the so called thug of a governor elect still has many loyalists even among the supposed elites. Sometime I feel ashamed to be an ekiterian. Its so bizzar hearing stories as backward as this in ekiti when there are still reasonable and rational people like us within the state. I will be disappointed if d judiciary folds their hands without taking necessary legal actions against this unruely thug of a politician.
