Four people were killed on Tuesday in Ibadan, capital of Oyo when a truck ran into traders and pedestrians at the ever busy Oja Oba market.
According to eyewitnesses the truck lost its balance after a brake failure.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun who condoled with the families of those who lost their lives said the unfortunate accident was avoidable.
He said, “This accident is one too many, you can see the number of casualties and the victims of the accident ranging from traders, passerby and tricycle riders. We are using this medium to call on the people to see the government’s frequent campaign against street trading as a clarion call to put an end to this kind of bloodbath.”
