Moving to Canada came with ‘never-to-be-forgotten’ stories, that we simply must share. Allow me to snitch real quick…

So when Hilo first arrived in Canada…*giggle*

She wasn’t quite sure how to combine clothes. In Nigeria, ‘spaghetti strap’, ‘jelly jokas’, ‘boob tube’, ‘scousers’ and the like were basic clothes. You know shirt and skirt or shirt and pants. Plus you’re likely to play it safe wearing black and white or just monochrome. There wasn’t really TOO much to think about when it came to fashion but with a variety of pieces to choose from, my girl got confused. lol

Lets assume the hi-low style was what was in back then…

With hi-lo being somewhat of a confusing style (at least for me…lol), Hilo would go to stores buying whatever the mannequin wore. This was something that never once crossed my mind. lol. In hindsight, I’d say she was brilliant, ’cause she stayed reppin’ the fashion of whatever time it was.

No stress, just, “hmm..I like this, aunty sales associate, please gimme everything this mannequin is wearing from head to toe”. So if at any point you saw Hilo and the the thought, “ah, I’ve seen this outfit before” crossed your mind, now you know you weren’t crazy. You had actually seen it before.
