The Director of Naval Information, Commodore Kabiru Aliyu, has revealed that the Federal Government has purchased four warships for the Nigerian Navy.
Aliyu made the disclosure via a statement released on Sunday, February 15.
He stated that the four warships would be inaugurated by President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, February 19, at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Aliyu said the newly acquired ships would improve the Navy’s operations against contemporary security challenges especially on the nation’s maritime domain.
Furthermore, he added that the exercise was unique because it was the first time the Navy would take delivery of four warships at once, adding that the gesture demonstrated the efforts of the government to reposition the Navy to meet contemporary challenges.
