Well, the day finally came and went, and despite all the hype, our very own Iron Lady was unable to change the tradition and wrestle the presidency of the World Bank out of the hands of the US. As expected, it was (and will probably remain for a while) quite the hot topic of discussion with the seeming majority echoing a resounding “I told you so”. Check out the top ten tweets on the issue below:
@DeleMomodu: The massive opposition from her fellow Nigerians should be an eye-opener to men and women of power that there’s so much disenchantment!
@OccupyNaija: Aunty @NOIweala ,Now that you have lost the bid to WB Presidency, shall we continue our Photo Shoot??…
@omojuwa: By the way, Nigeria can still go to the Tribunal. We can challenge the result – in our Supreme Court
@Reine_LaGlace: Isn’t it odd how y’al automatically assumes NOI was shortchanged w/ this World Bank president selection? Was she the best person for the job?
@timidakolo: All these pple criticising the great woman(NOI) cannot accomplish what she has accomplished even in 2 lifetimes..
@ged: Ngozi Chukwuka Okonjo-Iweala wanted to escape the Nigerian unknown; the Western World codedly told her to chill and finish what she started.
@ladypilot01: Now GEJ is setting a committee to look in to the matter why NOI lost the seat
@toluogunlesi: Or we could simple secede and set up our own (Third) World Bank! #wbprez
@oniyideseun: I told my Dad NOI lost the seat to the world bank president nd He shouted praise the Lord. This is how bad our Leaders have failed.
@estherclimate: Nigeria. World Bank. It is well. We are trending afterall. Welcome home NOI, the world needs you but Nigeria needs you more.
