Women and girls in recent times have had a heavy rotation of attention channeled towards them. From fighting for their rights to calling out social injustices targeted at them, a lot of women are saying no to certain patriarchal prescriptions set against them. While this may appear to be the perfect timing for those who share the idea of equality in every aspect of living, a number of people have forever shared their ideas and opinions on what women are supposed to be especially against their call for equality and against gender-based violence.

Importantly, while many women who are challenging these standards and starting these conversations have won themselves the badge of honor across their peers, they have also won enemies for themselves who have stretched to the entirety of womanhood.

Twitter, lately, has had to deal with several trends that seem to demean women and their opinions, their wants, and desire for equality and to be heard. One trend that has surfaced on countless occasions is the fear women trend. The trend itself has surfaced countlessly during false rape accusations and paternity fraud, predominantly pushed by men to villainize women.

Foolish Nigerian men have been under this video all morning talking about paternity fraud and how we should "fear women".

On Twitter, the trend was ignited again following a failed paternity test which later came to be proved as a prank video. The video, however, garnered attention on Nigerian Twitter as men started to question the fidelity in relationships and marriages with women.

Wether or not this was staged, it doesn’t change the fact that it happens all the time. People have been victims of paternity fraud from time immemorial and it’s totally wrong! I know someone who was a victim and he only found out when the “child” was over 30..
He was broken!!!

While it appears that many men are upset on certain things that women perpetuate, this trend is an agenda wholly carried out to switch tables and make men feel vindicated. It doesn’t hold any significance in the larger conversations of patriarchy and the alarming rates at which women are raped, murdered and subjugated. Lastly, women will appreciate it if men indeed feared women as they are calling for on Twitter, so that women can exist and thrive.
