Danladi Kifasi has been removed as the Head of Service of the Federation, with immediate effect.
A directive was signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Abba Kyari, on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, instructing Kifasi to proceed on terminal leave.
Kifasi’s replacement is expected to be announced in the course of the week.
Government information agency, PR Nigeria has disclosed that the decision to remove Kifasi as HOS was borne out of the need to ensure Federal Character Principle is adhered to, in the President’s appointments.
Barrister Danladi Kifasi is from Taraba State, which coincidentally, is from the same North-East zone with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, who is from Adamawa State.
The next HOS is expected to be picked from the Southern part of Nigeria.
Danladi Kifasi was appointed as the Head of Service of the Federation by former President, Goodluck Jonathan, following the retirement of Mallam Bukar Goni Aji.
Before his appointment in August 2014, Kifasi was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
