#YourTurn: The wonders of Cape Town!

taking a break

by Tosin Olaseinde

I told myself if anyone ever doubted the existence of God, who else would have made something so beautiful and magical.

My name is Tosin Olaseinde, I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am currently in Cape Town for holidays with my sister, Faith and in my own opinion; Cape Town is one of the world’s best kept secret.

The view is breath-taking and divine! We ticked some items off our bucket list as we hiked the “Table Mountain” together with some friends. Table Mountain is one of the newest/most recent 7 wonders in the world. Standing 1200m above sea level, it is a view to behold. On our way up, we made friends with people of different ages, race, language, but what we all had in common at that point was to get to the peak.

The climb up was about 2.5 hours and I can go on forever describing the view but I’ll let the camera do the talking. For the elderly/people with medical condition that can’t hike the mountain, the cable crane will be a great option so they can appreciate God’s master piece from the top. There is a cosy restaurant, a souvenir shop and restroom on top of the mountain. You also have the option of packing a picnic beforehand to have on top as an alternative to the restaurant.

On the second day, we embarked on a journey to Cape Point; this is the point where the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean meet. It also has the famous historical lighthouse there, which we visited. It has the most beautiful beaches and mountains and the way the oceans and cliffs merge is magical. I told myself if anyone ever doubted the existence of God, who else would have made something so beautiful and magical.
