Grammy-winning ‘Hamilton’ wins 11 Tony Awards

On Sunday night, the biggest thespians gathered at the Beacon Theatre in New York for the 2016 Tony Awards – the highest U.S. theatre honor and Broadway’s equivalent to the Academy Awards (Oscars) for film, the Grammy Awards for music.

Hosted by comic James Corden, the 70th annual awards show celebrated Broadway’s best plays and musicals.

The night was blessed with performances by the cast of Hamilton.

Hamilton stole the headlines at the show again as it had done when it won a Pulitzer prize and a Grammy award earlier this year.

The lucrative and outstanding stage-play which has raked in nothing less than $600,000 in profit every week, went on to win 11 tony awards on the night.
