The Niger Delta Avengers, militant group that has attacked oil installations this year, this morning claimed responsibility for an attack on Chevron in Delta State.
The militants attacked an electricity power line leading to the company’s Escravos terminal yesterday night.
Chevron’s onshore activities in Delta have now been shutdown as a result. been shut down by a militant attack
“It is a crude line which means all activities in Chevron are grounded,” a company source confirmed to Reuters this morning.
The Avengers had given oil companies in the region till the end of the month to stop operations or face attack.
