Gambian president Jammeh concedes defeat

President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia has conceded defeat to opposition leader Adama Barrow, The Punch reports.

While speaking with reports on Friday, the chairman of the electoral commission, Alieu Momar Njie, said, “It’s really unique that someone who has been ruling this country for so long has accepted defeat.”

Barrow took an early lead over Jammeh who has ruled the West African nation for 22 years.
