In a surprise move the MTV Europe Music Awards has handed the award for the “Best African Act” to Tanzanian singer Alikiba.
The move by the award organisers has a semblance to the goof by talk show host Steve Harvey at the 2015 Miss Universe, where he announced Miss Colombia as the winner instead of Miss Philippines.
Nigerian singer, Wizkid had been previously named winner of the category which held on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Thursday, MTVEMAs said Wizkid was wrongly named the winner due to an error.
But one begins to wonder why it took the organisers this long to rectify the so-called blunder.
