The Nigerian Army has reportedly arrested the son of Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers, Peter Odike on charges of murder and kidnapping.
The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party reacted to the arrest by stating that it proves that the PDP had been right all along for blaming the leadership of the opposition party for the violence and criminality that has engulfed the state.
The PDP noted that while it is not shocked that Odike’s offspring was arrested by the military, the confession of the suspect to the crimes would make the process of investigation and prosecution by the Army and other security agencies easier.
The party further commended the suspect for confirming to the security operatives that his criminal actions were actively supported by his father while describing the senior Odike as unpatriotic, shameful, wicked and a serious embarrassment to the State
“It has been made to believe that the security agencies are aware of its consistent alerts on the fact that some APC chieftains are hell-bent on causing violence and creating insecure atmosphere in the State.”
“In addition to the charge on their supporters to take up arms against perceived opponents in the State and outright release from detention of hardened criminals who were being charged in court for killings, kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related activities during the administration of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.”
