#JusticeForBridget: Killers of Igbo trader remanded in prison

A Kano state magistrate court has turned down the request for bail made by the five suspects involved in the murder of 74-year-old Igbo trader, Bridget Agbahime.

Agbahime, a trader a the popular Kofar Wambai market in Kano, was on June 2 hacked to death for allegedly insulting the Prophet Mohammed.

The five accused persons, Ahmed Dauda, Abdullahi Mustapha, Zubairu Abubakar, Abdullahi Abubakar and Musa Abdulllahi, through their legal counsel, prayed the court to release the defendants as the accusation against them did not merit detention.

However, the application for bail was opposed by the plaintiff who noted that the offence was a capital offence.

After much deliberation, the presiding Magistrate, Mohammed Jibrin, ruled that the accused persons should be remanded in prison custody.
