Ugandan Court orders Interpol to arrest Wizkid, and his manager

A Magistrate Court in Uganda has issued a court order directing operatives of the Ugandan police and the International Police (Interpol) to arrest Nigerian artiste, Wizkid and his manager Sunday Are.

The order issued by Magistrate Baligeya Moses Mufumbiro on Friday said Wizkid should be arrested on or before January 16, 2017.

They were charged on three counts of obtaining money by false pretence contrary to section 305 of the penal code act, cheating contrary to section 307 of the penal code act, and conspiracy to defraud contrary to section 309 of the penal code act.

The court order followed a suit filed by Muwema and Co, solicitors for Face Tv Ltd.

Muwema, acting on behalf of the client approached the court, accusing Wizkid and his manager Are of failing to honour a contractual agreement it reached with its client.

The plaintiff said Wizkid failed to attend a concert scheduled for Dec. 3 in Kampala after it had paid $60,000 to Wizkid’s manager. It also alleged that it paid $5,000 and $3,000 respectively as brokerage fee and for the days they would stay in Uganda.

Muwema added that Face TV accrued expenses running into $300,000 and over 25,000 Ugandans had already bought tickets for the concert.
