A woman was raped by five men in a warehouse after being kidnapped by two men posing as police, officers say.

A spokesman for Sharjah Police yesterday said five men suspected of being involved had been arrested after the woman reported her ordeal.

“Two men impersonating police officers ordered the woman to enter their car in a neighbouring emirate and then drove to a Sharjah industrial area, where they were joined by three others,” the spokesman said.

“The men raped the woman in a warehouse and then dropped her at Emirates Road, where she called police.”

Officers found the woman in a state of physical and psychological shock, and she could not remember where the attacks had taken place.

Police arrested three Afghan men who they say confessed to the crime and led them to two other suspects.

Police say two of the accused have been convicted of rapes in the past. One had also been deported.

The five suspects have been referred to Public Prosecution.

Police have appealed to all residents, especially women, to always ask for officers’ IDs and warrants.
