Saturday’s Round of 16 encounter in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has seen the Super Eagles beat the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 3-2, with an Odion Ighalo brace and Alex Iwobi supplying the winner. This West-African derby was a knockout game, with title-defenders squaring off against title hopefuls Nigeria.
Odion Ighalo opened the score sheet for the Eagles with a goal in the 20th minute, and within five minutes, Cameroon equalised through Stéphane Bahoken and then Clinton Njiés.
“It’s Odion Ighalooooooooooooo!”
The goal poacher finds the ball at his feet and fires home from close range, via deflection, to give the #SuperEagles the lead over Cameroon after 20 minutes.#AFCON2019 pic.twitter.com/sYpaNaQzCg

Before this game, both teams finished second in their respective groups to set up, with Nigeria tipped to be make a huge statement after scraping past the Swallows of Burundi and the Syli Nationale of Guinea before succumbing to a shocking 2-o loss in their final group match against Madagascar.
A delightful evening of quality and resilient football. Congratulations @NGSuperEagles on your quarterfinal qualification. We are proud of you. #TotalAFCON2019 #NGACMR
