The weekend was packed with a variety of occurrences. While you were having fun, unwinding, and getting quality rest, here are some things you may have missed while focusing on making the best out of your weekend.

Frank Edoho announces his second divorce

Media personality and host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, Frank Edoho, confirmed that his second marriage to Sandra Onyenuchenuya has ended on the recent episode of the Nigerian podcast “Tea with Tay”, where he was featured as a guest.

Edoho was formerly married to broadcaster Katherine Obiang and has three children from their union. Their union dissolved in 2010, after seven years together. His second marriage, which produced two children in 2014 and 2016, also recently came to an end.

He described the end of his second marriage as “devastating” and refrained from sharing specific reasons for the separation, but suggested that his own approach to relationships may have played a role.

He admitted that he might not be suited for marriage, when he said, “Maybe I’m not good at marriage,” he also added that he didn’t believe either of the women he married was his soulmate.

Edoho explained that, in his view, the “love of your life” is the person who comes to mind when you think of love, whereas a soulmate is someone who understands you deeply, sometimes even without words, and shares a natural connection with you.

Olu Jacobs gets honoured at TAFF 2025

Veteran actor Olu Jacobs, who has been battling health challenges, was honoured with the African Film Legend Award at the recently held 10th edition of the African Film Festival (TAFF) in Dallas, USA.

The organisers recognised him for his lasting impact and remarkable work in African cinema. The award was presented by notable filmmakers such as Emem Isong, Chisom Ozlee, Femi Brainard, and Rogers Ofime.

Popular filmmaker Kayode Peters dies in Canada

The news of the passing of Nigerian filmmaker, Kayode Peters, was confirmed, though the full details surrounding his death remain unclear.

Comedian Steve Onu, popularly known as Yaw, confirmed the sad news in a conversation with the Peoples Gazette on Friday, the 27th of June. When asked, he simply said, “Yes, he is,” referring to Peters’ death. He added that he was still trying to reach Peters’ brother for more information, saying, “I am still trying to speak with his brother, but he is not picking up.”

Seun Oloketuyi, the founder of Best of Nollywood (BON), also confirmed the news via Instagram on Saturday, the 28th of June, writing, “Bad news emerging from Canada indicates Filmmaker Kayode Peters is dead.”

Over the years, Peters made a name for himself with productions like “My Flatmates”, “Papa Ajasco”, and several other popular projects. He directed and produced major films such as “Crazy Grannies” and “Dream Job”, both released in 2021.

In 2018, he ventured into international filmmaking with “Excuse My African”, shot in New York City. Peters was also well known for directing and producing successful stage plays and sitcoms like “Extended Family” and “Doll House” (2015).

He is remembered as a major figure in modern Nigerian theatre and television and as someone who has left an indelible mark in the Nigerian movie industry.

Cynthia Morgan reveals her immediate or future goals, and music is not involved

Nigerian artist and songwriter, Cynthia Morgan, has shared that she is now focused on real estate and ministry, promising to share more about this new phase of her life soon. She made this known while responding to concerns from fans after an old video of her recently resurfaced on social media.

In a video, Morgan explained that the clip was recorded over a year ago and assured fans that she is currently in a much better place.

She also expressed gratitude to her supporters, including those who set up a GoFundMe campaign to help her return to music. However, when speaking about her future, she hinted that making a full comeback to the music industry may no longer be part of her plans, though she didn’t rule out making music just for fun.

She said, “I’m now into real estate, and I’m also into ministry, of which I’ll be dropping more details in due time…”
