Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu on Friday, opposed an application by the federal government to conduct his trial in secret.
Kanu, who is facing a six-count treason charge, appeared before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The government had stated that the witnesses billed to testify against Kanu and two other pro-Biafra agitators, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, have refused to appear in court over fears of reprisal attacks- hence, the need for a secret trial.
Justice John Tosho is yet to rule on the matter, involving Kanu who was clad in a white attire, embroidered with Biafra colours on the breast-pocket.
