The independence day celebration might have come and gone but the memories will continue to linger on for years to come for Akure residents in Ondo.
The annual celebration which is always marked with match past and other callisthenics display assumed a new dimension this year courtesy of a media company – The CSI red carpet through their Corporate Social Responsibility platform (CSR) Programme tagged #HandsonDeck on October 2, 2017.
The charity event which held at Ondo children’s home Oba-Ile Akure was declared open by Mr Babajide Akeredolu who represented the Ondo state Governor. He said, “Arakunrin had given the mandate to everybody to go out there and impact the lives of people that are less privileged and also restated the commitment of the Governor to youth development in the state“.
The project manager for #HandsonDeck Hhalimah Olatunji said, “Painting for charity is one of a kind, let us keep smiles on the faces of these beautiful children and pass a message to other young people- you are not too young to start giving back to the society; if not money, then maybe your time”.
While Toyosi Ayeleso, Partner and Brand Strategy Manager, CSI Media In his words said, “Social responsibility is part of life, just find a good cause you are passionate about and be a part of it”.
More than three hundred youth participated in the charity event. The company Plans to hold another version of the #HandsonDeck charity painting in Abuja before the end of the year 2017.
