Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu, absolved himself from the crisis rocking the state House of Assembly, saying the crisis is internal.

Aliyu, who said he was not targeted for impeachment by the lawmakers, insisted that the crisis has nothing to do with him.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Israel Ebije, on Wednesday, Aliyu said speculation of impeachment moves against him by the Assembly was not true and should be treated as such claiming he enjoys robust relationship with the lawmakers.

“Let me debunk speculation of alleged impeachment threat against Governor Aliyu. The speculation is sponsored by mischief makers and should be discarded for what it is. The Governor enjoys robust relationship with the House and that has not changed.

“The action of the House is internal and the decision to change leadership has no other ulterior motive more than the change of leadership which they have allegedly done. Let me therefore call on supporters of Governor Aliyu within and outside the country to remain calm,” said the statement.
