Another Arik Problem: Passengers stuck at the Abuja airport for 3 hours (and still counting)

by Hauwa Gambo

Arik Air passengers at the Abuja Domestic Airport have been delayed for about four hours now due to an issue with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

“We are tired of Arik owing us,” a FAAN official speaking under anonymity just informed our reporter.

The fees in question are Passenger Service Charges which come with a yellow sticker. The stalemate between the airport authority and the airline has left passengers on the 1pm flight from Abuja to Lagos, for instance, stuck at the time of filing this report.

“We will soon leave,” promised an Arik official with the name tag Sola who however refused to offer a surname. “Arik does not cancel flights. We will be ready to leave in a matter of minutes.”

That promise was made an hour ago. No official explanation has been offered to angry passengers.

It will be recalled that Arik has continued to deal with customer service complaints, ranging from the near mishap reported on Friday to the amusing #ArikWhereIsMyIpad campaign begun by blogger, Japheth Omojuwa.
