#ArtXLagos finale: In case you missed the colours… (PHOTOS)

Art X

The highly anticipated Art X Lagos finally came and did not end without showing the world that Lagos, West Africa and indeed Africa is finally coming into its own as a legitimate force in the art world. The team behind Art X carefully curated a portfolio that encompassed the spectrum from rising stars to celebrated veterans.

The Art X Talks:

For Day 1, read here.

Day 2 featured celebrated Nigerian multimedia artist and Mac Arthur genius grant recipient Njideka Akunyili Crosby in conservation, where she discussed her practice and influences. Also, Victor Ehikhamenor, a Nigerian visual artist, writer, and photographer, once described as “undeniably one of Africa’s most innovative contemporary artists“, was there. One of the exhibition’s big draws was the installation dedicated to Lemi Ghariokwu, renowned multi-disciplinary artist whose work has become near inextricable from the life and work of Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Uche Okpa-Iroha, a photographer and visual artist, engaged university students with his photography practice.

We cannot wait for the next edition.
