The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has exonerated Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, in the bribery allegations levelled against him.
The CCT Chairman was alleged to have bribed by one AbdulRashid Owolabi of N10 million.
According to Ibraheem Al-hassan, Head, Press & Public Relations of the CCT, the anti-graft agency on Wednesday, conveyed a letter to Umar, absolving him of all guilt.
The letter which was addressed to the Secretary to Government of the Federation, was titled “RE: Investigation Report RE: N10million Bribery Allegation against the Chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja”.
Dated April 20, the letter was signed by Emmanuel Adegboyega Aremo, Secretary to the EFCC.
“Kindly recall our correspondence of 5th March, 2015, (reference EFCC/EC/SGF/03/56) with the above subject, please.”
“We would like to reiterate the Commission’s position in regard to this matter as earlier communicated to you and stated that the allegations leveled against Justice Umar were mere suspicious and consequently insufficient to successfully prosecute the offence.”
