Who are you calling cheap? Michael Kors presents opulent Fall 2015 collection (PHOTOS)

In the last five years, Michael Kors has become synonymous with providing affordable luxury for people who can’t afford high market items. From bags to watches, this synonymity has led the brand to ever increasing profit margins that peaked in July 2014. In recent times however, the worldwide brand recognition that once served the label well, backfired. Just as it was predicted by Forbes in an article last year, people have started to avoid Michael Kors pieces, referring to the label as “cheap,” “ubiquitous,” and “not exclusive enough”. The brand has even been called out for not selling the glamorous lifestyle it portrays in its über high end ad campaigns.

The designer is now fighting back all these claims with his opulent Fall 2015 collection presented yesterday at New York Fashion Week. He used lots (and lots) of expensive fur in the collection, sticking to his all-American vibe in the pieces shown, but with a high end aesthetic. From giant fox fur coats to a subdued damask-cut brown mink coat, Kors themed the collection around opulent restraint with the idea that luxury should not only be for eveningwear. The clothes were like something out of a classic movie or period drama like Downton Abbey with rich tweeds and sequinned feathers.

All-in-all, Michael Kors did not disappoint. Here are a few pieces we love from the show:
