Civilian JTF replaces troops to secure Bama

Members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and vigilante group have been saddled with the responsibility of securing the recaptured town of Bama in Borno State.

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima gave the directive on Thursday, revealing that troops have been deployed to the border communities of Banki and Gulumba.

He urged them to protect the IDPs at the camp and also also secure the building materials meant for reconstruction of the town.

He said, “All of you are to swear by the Quran not to reveal any information to Boko Haram insurgents. You should ensure the protection of all
building materials, and the over 26, 000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bama camp.”

“There will be no rancour or bitterness between your members and the military in achieving the ultimate goal of enduring peace for people to return to their houses,” the governor added.
