Court fails to unfreeze Fayose’s bank account

The Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti hearing the suit involving the Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, failed to unfreeze the governor’s account.

The court, presided over by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, had adjourned its sitting till September 30, 2016, following the request by council to the governor, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), for an adjournment to enable him examine and respond to issues raised by the EFCC.

Fayose had filed a suit praying the court to order the anti-graft agency to lift the restriction placed on his personal accounts domiciled with Zenith Bank, noting that the EFCC was infringing on the immunity conferred on him by Section 308 of the 1999 constitution.
