Don’t get it twisted: I’m still a member of the G-7 – Gov. Aliyu insists

Despite refusing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) like most of his fellow aggrieved governors, the ‘G-7’, the Governor of Niger, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has said that he is still in alliance with the now defunct group.

5 members of the G-7 defected from the PDP and fused into the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaving Aliyu and his Jigawa counterpart, Sule Lamido.

Aliyu has however insisted that he is still a member of the PDP and also that he and the former G-7 governors are still pursuing the same goals.

The Telegraph reports:

Speaking when he paid a visit to the Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at Kano Government House, on Saturday, Governor Aliyu said the G-7 governors were still together, but pursuing the same objective through different approaches.

“We are still together as one indivisible body. We communicate, exchange ideas and are pursuing the same course. Our goal is never different for your information,” he said.

He insisted that as long as he was concerned, nothing could separate him from Governor Kwankwaso.
