A truck pusher has appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for damaging a N1.5million generating set and then threatening to beat the owner up.
Yesterday Adewale Ademusere was slammed with a two-count charge of threatening violence and willful damage to property.
The court heard how on May 7 at about 6:30p.m. at Okobaba Sawmill in Ebute-Meta, Ademusere and one of his friends had a misunderstanding, which resulted in a fight.
According to reports, during the fight, they fell on the generating set and it got damaged. The owner, Ruth Ajuwa, became very upset but the accused threatened to beat her up instead.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Etim Nkankuk contravened Sections 56 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
According to Section 56, anyone convicted of threatening violence is liable to imprisonment for one year while Section 348 prescribes two years imprisonment for a person convicted of willful damage to property.
The accused pleaded not guilty to threatening violence, but guilty to willful damage and was remanded in police custody.
