Nigerian Doctor and artist Fola David took it upon himself to break the record for the longest drawing by an individual, surpassing the now-previous holder, Ravi Soni, an Indian with a 629.98 sqm (6,781.04 square feet) drawing titled “Tree of Life”, and was completed within 24 hours and 33 minutes in 2022.
Fola David officially began his journey to achieving the record title on July 16th and completed it on July 21, 2024.
With a clear goal in mind, the Nigerian doctor and artist titled the name of his drawing “Unity in Diversity”, saying he was “doing this drawing not only as a reflection of our cultural identities but also as a medium for building understanding and unity among diverse Nigerian tribes, thereby promoting peaceful coexistence in my country.”
The six-day event took place at the Lagos Onikan Stadium, with the drawing standing tall at 850 sqm, depicting the map of Nigeria and displaying the rich and various cultures of the country.
Fola David has now been announced as the Guinness World Record holder of the Longest Drawing by an Individual.
