HardFacts Studios Announces “The Bitter Feminist” Premiering on iRep Festival in March

HardFacts Studios has announced “The Bitter Feminist,” an intriguing documentary that explores the problems, stereotypes, and oppression that women endure in Nigeria and Africa.

Compiled through several interviews, the five-episode series sheds light on the cultural, religious, and socio-economic factors influencing the struggle for gender equality in Africa.

Each of the five episodes addresses a critical issue like misogyny, child marriage, gender roles, consent, and transactional sex.

Created by Daniel Chukwuemeka and Ijeoma Chinonyerem, produced by Isaac Newton Akah and directed by director Priye Diri, “The Bitter Feminist” analyses the intersectionality of feminism through the mouth of Ringret, a young woman from Northern Nigeria who survived rape and arranged marriage.

“The Bitter Feminist” strengthens women’s voices, demanding a swift revolutionary re-calibration of societal values and gender inequality. The docuseries will premiere at the iRep festival in Lagos in March 2025.
