It’s a year and three months since actress Mbong Amata left her movie director husband, Jeta Amata in pursuit of happiness – building her career.

Mbong, a former beauty queen (Miss Akwa Ibom 2003) had always wanted to become an actress but her ex-husband preferred her at home with their six years old daughter… an embargo she managed to put up with for 10 years of marriage.

She finally called the cards in 2013 and Jeta had to let go of her to pursue her dreams in the movie industry.

“I stole her youth and didn’t let her live her dream so it was better to let her go and find new adventures. She’s happy and so am I.” Jeta had said.

And oh heavens, how excellently she has performed in the past one year?!

Since the separation, Mbong has featured in several movies, one of them is Forgetting June produced by Emem Isong, Apaye also byEmem Isong and achieved a fete months ago by premiering her movie, Darima’s Dilemma. A movie about Darima who is happily married to the the love of her life, Josh, but harbours a secret that is capable of crashing her perfectly created home. It stars Majid Michel, IK Ogbonna and Diana Yekinni.

We now also get to see her at social events and on red carpets.

Oh by the way, we are only a few days into the New year and she has got movie roles already, it’s definitely gonna be a busy year for this Ms.

When asked if she misses her ex-husband Jeta, she said: “Jeta is a great man, fantastic dad but life has to move on.”
