Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York has been fired.
The Manhattan federal prosecutor was fired after refusing to resign his position.
Bharara was among 46 holdover Obama appointees asked to resign on Friday by attorney general Jeff Sessions.
However, he refused to heed the call and got the boot.
“I did not resign. Moments ago I was fired. Being the US Attorney in SDNY will forever be the greatest honor of my professional life,” he tweeted.
