Just In: Godwin Obaseki wins Edo state APC guber primary

Godwin Obaseki has been declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress for the 2016 Edo state governorship election after he polled 1618 votes out of the 2,873 delegates that attended the party’s primary in Benin, Edo stae, on Saturday.

Obaseki was declared winner of the primary election by the primary election committee headed by Gov Masari of Katsina.

The primary was held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium Benin city.

Obaseki is the pioneer and present Chairman of the Edo state Economic and Strategy Team which was inaugurated by Governor Adams Oshiomhole during his first tenure in 2009.

The primary saw 12 other contestants vie for the party nomination, including the state’s deputy governor, Pius Odubu – who polled a total of 471 votes.
