President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a letter to the Senate asking the legislature to confirm the appointment of Justice Ejembi Eko and Justice Amina Augie as Supreme Court justices.
The Senate confirmed receipt of the letter, dated July 19, 2016 on Thursday and was read to members of the Senate by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, during the plenary.
The letter read, “In accordance with Section 231, Subsection 1 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), I have the pleasure to forward for your confirmation the nomination of Hon. Justice Ejembi Eko, JCA, Benue, North Central, and Hon. Justice Amina A. Augie, JCA, Kebbi, North-West, as Supreme Court justices.
“Please accept, Mr. President of the Senate and distinguished senators, the assurances of my esteemed consideration.”
