[The Legislative Blog]: Hon Jibrin premieres his anti-corruption international campaign in London

Suspended lawmaker, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin declared via Twitter few hours ago, “I WILL NOT RETURN TO NIGERIA UNLESS MY SAFETY IS GUARANTEED”.

Hon Jibrin accused the four-man cabal of House of Reps Speaker, Hon Yakubu Dogara; Deputy Speaker, Hon Yusuf Lasun; Chief Whip, Hon Alhassan Ado-Doguwa and Minority Leader, Hon Leo Ogor of “using another member of the House, Hon Herman Hembe to either assassinate or kidnap him or his family members”.

Hon Hembe responded to the comments by calling them “laughable and foolish”. He also has a story to support his stance. According to Hon Hembe, there are no threats to Hon Jibrin’s life. He has fled the country to avoid getting investigated by the EFCC for corruption. His words, “he might have got the hint of his possible prosecution and decided to flee while raising false alarm.”

Hold that thought!

Just two days ago, Hon Jibrin was awarded in London for “his commendable effort in helping to eradicate corruption”. The award was presented by the African Voice Leadership in Legislative Governance.

The embattled lawmaker has vowed to take his anti-corruption campaign to the international community and plans to involve Nigerians in diaspora. The lone soldier is about to have company, a formidable one if seriously handled.

Hon Jibrin granted a live interview on BEN TV yesterday and is slated to speak about corruption in the House of Reps with political analyst and host of talk show, Politricks with KO, Kayode Ogundamisi this Friday, also on BEN TV.

Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin is set to brief the world on all the events that led to his self-exile and he will not forget to mention how President Muhammadu Buhari has not uttered a statement on the budget padding scandal.

The EFCC that Hon Hembe has spoken for is yet to corroborate the lawmaker’s claims, and that’s good for now. If the anti-graft agency does invite Hon Jibrin over for investigation into past corruption allegations, then all our questions about the EFCC’s impartiality would be answered.

But meanwhile, we will sit back and enjoy Hon Jibrin’s media tour for his latest flick, as he takes full advantage of his self-exile.
