A mild drama played out at the weekend, at Oredo Local Government Council marriage registry in Benin, Edo state when a 57 year-old man, Valentine, abandoned his bride to be and took to his heels during their marriage registration ceremony.

Valentine abandoned the marriage formalities when his wife of 17 years and mother of his four children, stormed the venue to disrupt the marriage.

Defending her actions to the wedding guests and new bride to be who is yet to recover from the shock, the legal and embattled wife disclosed that her husband abandoned his responsibilities to the family for years now.

“I had to do this because I’m convinced my husband must have been bewitched by the lady because since the rumour began making rounds he has stopped taking care of his four children. Each time he is confronted to provide money for our upkeep he often complained of not having money,” she narrated.
